Today John shows us one of his favorite handy helpers for the bee yard, the Frame Perch! When you're inspecting a hive and you don't have a helper, what do you do with the frames you remove? Usually we end up leaning them against the hive, kicking one or two over in the process. This product helps keep your frames, and bees, safe and sound while you perform your inspection. Thank you so much for subscribing! And thanks for watching. #RTBBF!
Introduced my 14 year old grandson now working on my daughter. Going out this morning with her. Putting a hive in her yard next spring. Still don’t have a clue what I’m doing. You videos help a lot. Is it time to feed pollen patties?
Pollen patties are useful this time of year if you need to increase brood production. But if they aren't consuming them quickly I would recommend removing because the beetles love them also. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
About to Introduce my son to the hives this morning
We hope he enjoyed it as much as we do! #RTBBF!
Great job! Bees look happy!
Thank you for your comment. #RTBBf!
We just worked our hives 5 hives this morning. Got about 25 to 30#. Not what we expected but grateful for what we got
Always grateful to get a harvest no matter what it is. Stay cool, keep rolling that beautiful bee footage! And as always thank you for watching.
Hi I'm new at the bee thing and I love watching your videos. What is checker boarding mean please?
When you add a super and have drawn comb frames to mix with the foundation only frames. And you put them in every other one. Thanks for the question. #RTBBF!
What John said. It encourages the bees to draw out foundation with comb.
just subscribed to your channel. I'm very new at keeping bees and like your videos. Just wanted to let you know that when I click on your links for the J-Hook tool and others, they don't take me anywhere. Keep the videos coming please!
We thank you for the sub. And you may have to go on website to view products. #RTBBF! Thanks for watching
Haven't seen a lot of content lately. Miss seeing the Arkansas bee keeping stories.
We will try harder to get more out. Has been a very busy spring. Thanks for watching.
Good to see this video. Good grief, Cora is all grown up. I have the same issue. Lots of filled nectar/ honey but not capped. NW Georgia has had a lot of rain during the flow. We still have some sumac and some Mimosa. Mimosa is controversial but I've seen them on it. I think because it's the last rodeo. It is a darker color. Some say it's not good. I beg to differ. Also I feel it also depends on where you are. Great job Cora, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the update from Georgia. Rain during the flow is always an issue. #RTBBF!
I like the mimosa honey as well. My girls hit it hard this year
Welcome back, haven’t seen y’all for a while.
Has been a very busy spring. #RTBBF!
Hi guys I am from India if anyone knows about to how to make artificial pollen please tell me recently I make but my bees are not interested
There are a lot of pre made pollen subs that are very good and really inexpensive when you look at cost of the supplies and time it takes to make your own. Please look at our website and check out the pollen options. Thanks for watching.
She is a doll. Thank you for sharing. And I loved the inactions you all had.❤
Thank you so much! #RTBBF!
Thats enourmous, I would have loved to have seen the full colony they came from, I have never seen one as low as this !
It was a record breaking swarm for us! Thanks for watching #RTBBF!
Still looking good to me
Thanks Jay, we appreciate your support!
Love the offset of this tool hey John see if you can get one of them for us left-handed beekeepers! Thanks bud!
You're welcome, and I'll look into a left hand version. lol
Thanks for the detailed explanation. This was very easy to understand and comprehend. We’re amateur beekeepers trying to develop more skills. This was a really great help! Sincerely, River Smith and family.
Glad it was helpful River, keep rolling that beautiful bee footage! We appreciate it.
Hello I figured you were busy just like everybody this year . Ours here in NC was also early to come an go but there is still a little bit coming in but the big flow has been gone just about two weeks. I had a mess this season. I had someone near by in my out yard thought it would be a good idea to spray or whatever there garden or trees but anyway I hope they have vegetables because I lost a yard . I sale mostly dark honey because that is what my customers love the most an this was was my dark honey yard . I think I have found a new yard for next season to start these back over . Well it is good to get a update from you an yes that long colony is looking great . To me but i may be wrong but it looks like those long hives are totally different than a regular hives the way you have to work them just a total different ball game .🤷♂️🤷♂️. Thanks
Good to hear from you Mrs.Kathy as always. I hate to hear about the yard loss. It seems that beekeepers just can't catch a break when dealing with pesticides. I wish you all the luck in the new location. Yes, the long hive is different from traditional beekeeping for me. I will continue to learn with it as much as I can. It's very easy to work and that drives me to want to succeed with it. Thanks for dropping in, have a great fall and #RTBBF!
Awesome explanation thank you
You are welcome! #RTBBF
They are looking good ,I installed 2 good frames of a swarm and they are looking great thanks for the video.
Very nice!, we appreciate you watching.
Ours are doing fantastic
I'm very glad to hear your doing so well with the long hives. #RTBBF!
Very busy bees 🐝 never seen a long hive before 😊
I really enjoy the long hive. Thank you for watching .
As always they are looking great 👍. RTBBF. Tell pistol i said hey.🐝🐝
Hey Michael, glad you checked in. But I have bad news Pistol has passed on now, but not forgotten. Thanks for watching buddy have a great bee season. #RTBBF!
@CentralBeekeepersSupply oh man I'm sorry to hear that. I surely didn't know. He will be missed i really enjoyed him and his adventures with yall.
Looking good!
Thanks! #RTBBF!
Sorry to hear about Pistol.
Very poor video when considering the complete LACK of safety protocols and equipment! You are just teaching people to take chances!😂
I hope people won't try certain parts of this at home. lol
Your doing a good job.
Thanks Jay, I appreciate the kind compliment.
those queen cells look more like emergency cells not swarm cells I think they know your queen is getting old and the mean to replace her, I don't think they are planning on swarming, they have plenty of room, swarm cells are generally bigger and on the bottom of the frame in my experience, ive never had a swarm go from an emergency cell. Super seeding is what's going on I think
Can I ask why you squash the super seed cells? they may know their queen is weak and old and need to replace her?
You maybe right.
I did what I thought was right at time. Several different ways to approach every thing we do with bees. Thanks for watching.
About the question when it will hatch, not for at least several hours, otherwise you would hear piping.
That dental mirror mentioned at 5:10 was exactly what I was thinking.
What a shame.
There's alocall guy here in Bakersfield. Can that has one the size of a small house four days ago by himself..uyyah they got up in there.
I always learn something from your posts no matter how many times I see them.
We appreciate you watching our channel. #RTBBF!
What do I do if a large swarm just landed in my apple tree? I am not a beekeeper.
If that does happen to you. You can call your county extension office. Report the swarm to them and more than likely they have a list with the local beekeepers in your area who would love to come and take them out of your tree. Thanks for asking the question. #RTBBF!
Great instructions on doing a split. Thanks
You're welcome/ #RTBBF!
So neat to your family working together.
It's a blessing!
I love this. Thank you Cora for teaching me how to do this!
You are so welcome!
You sure have been a great resource for us.
We are so glad that it has helped. Thank you
You mentioned 9 frames. Are you only putting 9 frames in a 10 frames hive? And if so do you mind explaining why? And I was told not to shake bees from other hives into splits but that’s what you are doing, correct?
Yes, I use metal 9- frame spacers to separate the frames so that the box is easy and fast to work. Besides that benefit the bees draw a deeper comb well around brood. As well they can put more honey up for you in your honey supers. I hope this helps you. #RTBBF!
Thank you! Love your videos by the way!

That’s hanger is my favorite tool
A very useful tool, especially while working bees alone. Thanks for the comment. #RTBBF!
I think she gone because they r loud and running around
Love the one we got from you. It has really done great. Very well made. Will be buying more.
We are very glad that y'all are happy with the hive. Your right they are built very well and should last for many years. Enjoy and hope you have a great bee season. #RTBBF!
Great filming!
Thank you !
He could have brought the hive just underneath the branch of the swarm and shake it strongly and he is done, this is how I do it and it works 100% and very quick and simple.unless the guy wants a lengthier video .
